I sold a flat on the Isle of Wight once. The sale went through really smoothly, my agent was great, I'd recommend that company to anyone. Then it got to the transfer of the money ...
By that stage I was no longer on Wight, but was assured that the firm of lawyers were good. They weren't.
First of all, the ****ers were slow. s l o o o w. Slower than snails. Slower than treacle trickling down a gentle slope of flour. I phoned, I emailed, I put in a formal letter of complaint. I got a formal letter back, assuring me that x and y would be done within 2 days and that z would happen immediately and that if necessary my complain could go all the way to the Board of Bored High Wizards in London. It will, trust me, as soon as these ****wipes actually pay me.
Eventually I mailed my original real estate agent in Ryde, who was fabulous and within a few days the lawyers contacted me and said that the money would be transferred on the 13th. I suppose I should have been superstitious, but it didn't even occur to me. I got a letter stating that the money had been paid into x account, which would have been **** marvellous if it had been the right account. Of course, the ****ty lawyers had transferred it to completely the wrong account.
I sent a polite, but not friendly email back in reply immediately explaining it and got a swift reply back saying - the money has been paid into *wrong account number* is this correct?
Deep breath. Flex the typing muscles. Count to eleventy-one.
No. As I instructed you on such and such a date, the account details are as follows and in fact, the account you paid it into was closed on such and such another date.
Instant reply saying - I will deal with this as a matter of urgency. That was last night, I am trying hard to be patient.
