What factors, besides terrible customer service, make you switch brands?

definitely the price! and terrible changes in design. i hate when they just switch to a new design after the old one has been a symbol of customer trust and identification for so long... might as well try sth completely different then

All of the above and if there was a big scandal about the company (like if they used horsemeat, treated their workers badly, were involved in other criminal actions etc) I'd definitely switch brands too!

Have you changed how you shop since the horsemeat thing?

Not really, I for one only buy meat at my local butcher's. I did avoid the tasty meatballs when I went to the swedish furniture shop last week though!!! The restaurant there was almost empty! Many people I know have stopped buying ready meals, say from Priceland or other big chains... Some of them actually cook their meals from scratch now, so in the long run I think it'll change people's eating habits for the better

i just feel the need to point out that there's nothing wrong with eating horse though, as long as you know it's horse and it hasn't been fed strange medicines.

Cattle are possibly as full of steroids and crap as horses. And you hit the nail on the head by saying as long as people know what they are eating...I think a lot of the outrage is down to the simple fact that people loathe being lied to.
THen there is the whole bleeding-heart issue, where people don't want to eat horse because it is seen as being a species closer to humanity than cows etc etc. Meantime, cattle are intelligent and one can make friends with them too. Someone even showjumped a cow once.
We eat meat, but postmodern society is astonishingly quirky about which animals get anthropomorphised and loved and revered, and which get slaughtered and eaten.
YEs, I do eat meat.
It doesn't disturb me in the slightest that I may have eaten horse meat. I am actually far more disturbed about the conditions that beef cattle are raised and slaughtered in.

Due to the meat scandal, Hellco which is one the biggest supermarkets, were one of the first supermarkets to be culprits. As they have had very bad press, most people have either boycotted them or just don't buy meat products from them - now they are looking to win back customer loyalty.
