Companies sometimes lie - and also put serious money into creating those lies and propaganda. Have a look at this ... now I don't know about you, but I actually find that closing accounts is as 'easy' as unsubscribing from spam. Sometimes I feel like I am a rat in a maze ... this cartoon says bull**** to me - or am I alone in my experience?

It's often easier to just let accounts lie dormant than it is to actually close them. And companies make customers feel like they are doing you a huge favour by closing an account. Banks are the worst: it took several months, countless emails, several trips to the bank and numerous forms filled in before my bank finally closed an account- during which time they continued to charge monthly 'management fees' on the account.

TV licences! People can die and the household will get subpoenas for the deceased for the rest of eternity. It becomes rather farcical ... after all, what can they possibly do?

Property auctioneers claimed only 'pre-approved' buyers were allowed to bid on a property auction but neglected to mention that 'pre-approval' only applied to the deposit and commission, not the entire purchase price.

Take my mother, Few years back she finially managed to get enough courage saved up to leave her abusive boyfriend. 6 months later she gets a bill from thier joint account(which he supposedly closed) asking for over £1500 in unpaid overdraft fees. She accepts she'll have to pay this and that it's a small price to pay to remove another aspect of him from her life. Unfortunately after paying the fees the bank explains that they cannot close an account(which isn't in use by either party) without both signatures! To this day she can't close it!?!
